Why Vista?

"Why Vista" is an exciting promotional video series that showcases select companies within the city, focusing on emerging industries such as biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals, food and beverage manufacturing, food product innovation, and the restaurant sector. The series kicks off by highlighting Vista’s thriving biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals industry. Antharis Therapeutics has developed a broad range of promising medications that help the body’s own immune system better combat some of today’s most difficult cancer types with fewer side effects.

Free Event to Drive Foot Traffic to Downtown Vista

A new promotion launches soon to encourage consumers to spend at local Downtown Vista businesses as part of the fun, annual Vista Duck Race on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Wave Waterpark.

There is no cost for Downtown businesses to participate.

The promotion rewards customers with free Duck Race entries for every $10 spent at local restaurants, shops, breweries or other businesses during Vista Duck Race Season from Friday, May 9 through the May 18 race day.

The Duck Race is like a raffle. Thousands of rubber ducks are numbered to coincide with entry numbers provided to customers.

The race begins with the mammoth flotilla of ducks zipping down the Wave’s Riptide Slide and into the Lazy River. The first ducks to float across the finish line win a variety of prizes including Vista Bucks Gift Cards worth up to $300 that can be redeemed at dozens of Vista businesses.

Businesses are encouraged to create promotions to coincide with Vista Duck Season to help drive traffic to their respective locations. Race organizers will assist and promote any offers that a Downtown Vista business wants to publicize at no cost.

The promotions can range from meal specials and in-store discounts to “flash sales” or special events at business locations. Learn more and register your event at VistaDuckRace.com/business.

Consumers also will automatically earn entries by purchasing Vista Bucks Gift Cards through May 18 race day.

The Vista Duck Race is organized in collaboration with the Wave Waterpark, Central Vista Business Improvement District (Downtown Vista) and the City of Vista.
